The 2020 Magic Millions January Sale represented a significant shift in strategy for us as we purchased a record 16 yearlings for a total spend of $2.125 million which placed us 19th in terms of market share and 3rd in terms of number of yearlings purchased, behind only Gai Waterhouse (25) and Hawkes Racing (17).
That change in strategy was prompted by the following factors:

Of our 17 winners from the Gold Coast January Sale in 2019, 13 were at metropolitan level (76%).

A good portion of our best performed horses have come from the sale – SIR MOMENTS, GOTTA KISS, CANDIKA, SCALLOPINI, etc.

Eligibility for an ever-expanding carnival highlighted by the $11 million Magic Millions raceday – a program that caters for 2yos, 3yos and older horses over distances ranging from 1200m-2400m. (There is simply no other incentive scheme like it)

Proven Thoroughbreds is in an ideal position to capitalize on such incentives via leading Brisbane trainer Steve O’Dea (as opposed to having to travel horses in the summer heat from Sydney or Melbourne).
