The Inglis Classic Yearling Sale started strong but eased on days two and three which presented fantastic buying opportunities.
Proven Thoroughbreds couldn’t land a blow during the opening session but it proved to be a blessing in disguise as we were able to capitalise on the prices dipping later in the sale.

We concluded our business with seven yearlings – five for Joe Pride, one for the Steve O’Dea-Matt Hoysted partnership, and one for Kerry Parker.
Proven’s total expenditure at the sale was $1.015 million. The yearling prices ranged from $71,500 to $264,000 (inc GST) which will allow us to cater for a wide spectrum of clients.

MERCHANT NAVY x ASHLEE MARIE filly

KEY FACTORS
- Beautifully balanced filly from the second crop of MERCHANT NAVY, a dual hemisphere Group 1 winning son of the all-conquering FASTNET ROCK.
- As well as his impeccable racetrack record, MERCHANT NAVY is bred the same way as current champion sire SNITZEL (by a son of DANEHILL out of a stakes winning SNIPPETS mare).
- The dam ASHLEE MARIE won her first two starts as a 2YO over short courses before finishing runner-up over 2500m at Group 3 level as a 3YO.
- Has more scope and style than most of the breed, suggesting she will get over an Oaks trip.
VANCOUVER x BOTTICELLI ANGEL colt

- RUBICK sired more metropolitan winners than any other first season stallion in 2018-19 and produced The Everest winner YES YES YES from his first crop. Has since maintained an exceptional strike rate of around 40% winners to runners
- Proven has raced four RUBICK’s to date and all are winners including three at city level
- Out of an I AM INVINCIBLE mare who raced 36 times for six wins = durability
- The second dam was a narrow 2nd in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes for 2YOs and has thrown an impressive nine winners since retiring to stud
