What price a pair of full siblings reared at the same stud, with the same trainers, ridden by the same jockey, at the same track over the same distance, purchased and managed by the same syndicator, BOTH win on the same day?

Well into double figures one would think but that was the story at Ipswich on Wednesday when 4YO Better Than Ready mare BETTER GET SET (pictured) and younger brother THATFEELSBETTER, made it a real family affair for trainers Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted, rider Baylee Nothdurft and Proven Thoroughbreds.

“We always had a lot of time for BETTER GET SET as a young horse,” Hoysted revealed after the mare charged away with the BM68 over 1200m.

“That’s the main reason we bought THATFEELSBETTER at the sales. Both look to have bright futures ahead.”

The victories for brother and sister, were obviously a great result for Lyndhurst Stud’s resident sire Better Than Ready and the Fastnet Rock mare Ridolfi.

A scopy, correct yearling BETTER GET SET was an $85k purchase at the Magic Millions 2019 March Sale. Twelve months on, her younger sibling THATFEELSBETTER, a more robust individual than his sister, was also knocked down to Proven and the trainers for just $80k at the Magic Millions January edition.

Connections of both the stablemates are now recipients of the lucrative QTIS bonuses available on so many QLD races with BETTER GET SET’S pair of QTIS victories as a 3YO contributing to her current prizemoney tally of $159k. A one start maiden prior to Wednesday, THATFEELSBETTER banked over $31k for his victory.

“The consistent success we’ve had with Steve & Matt along with the prizemoney and bonus system structure, is the main reason why the QLD arm of our business has expanded in the last few years,” announced Proven’s Tom Walter.

“In this month alone, the stable has provided us with 8 individual winners.”

Not surprisingly the Proven/O’Dea/Hoysted team returned to the scene of the crime earlier this year and secured another Better Than Ready. The bidding ended on the lovely, sweet moving filly from Flying Style for you guessed it, $80k. Needless to say, she was a product of Lyndhurst Stud who’ve banked on lightning striking 3 times by retaining a share. Details HERE…..
