Quality filly GOTTA KISS capped an excellent 2 year old campaign with a fast finishing 2nd in the Group 1 JJ Atkins Stakes at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Relishing the fast run 1400m on a very firm surface, the diminutive chestnut with a big stride, unleashed a powerful burst from rearward to the roars of her many female owners down the eastern seaboard.

At the line she was 3.3 lengths astern of the runaway winner ROTHFIRE after conceding him a huge margin on straightening from her wide barrier.

GOTTA KISS has been a model of consistency throughout an exhausting juvenile season, winning a trio of Saturday two year old events and twice being placed in STAKES company from 8 starts.

Her only blemish was on Magic Millions Day in January when 12th behind AWAY GAME following a four hour float trip that delayed her arrival until minutes prior to saddling up.

With little time to rest between the Summer and Winter Carnivals the NOT A SINGLE DOUBT filly will now head to the paddock for a very well-deserved spell.

Trainer Steve O’Dea, who identified her talent from day one, was thrilled with the little filly’s run, describing it as “enormous”.

Steve has his eyes firmly set on the 2021 Magic Millions 3yo Classic amongst other black type events through the Queensland summer. Being an exclusively ladies’ horse, GOTTA KISS will be eligible for the female bonus in that race.

Proven Thoroughbreds still has shares available in another youngster by the now pensioned NOT A SINGLE DOUBT. Bred on the same cross as GOLDEN SLIPPER winner FARNAN, this colt is currently in pre training….SEE HERE.
