Well-bred filly DISCREET CHARM confirmed her promise with an impressive maiden win at Hawkesbury on Thursday.

Ridden a treat by Jeff Penza (pictured), DISCREET CHARM improved significantly from her debut outing at Warwick Farm earlier this month to win the 1300m maiden with relative ease – at attractive odds of $19.

The daughter of SO YOU THINK is a half-sister to Group I winner VANBRUGH so to get an early win on the board bodes well for her future.

Trainer John Thompson believes the three-year-old has shown enough to warrant having a crack at next year’s autumn carnival in races heading towards the Group I Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick.

A $170k purchase at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, DISCREET CHARM was secured in the hope that she would graduate to an Oaks and so far she has done nothing to deter us from that ambition.

DISCREET CHARM’s win follows the victory of the Joe Pride-trained SO SPIRITED at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and takes Proven Thoroughbreds’ tally of winners for the year to 38.

Proven Thoroughbreds has limited shares remaining in the following 2YOs with John Thompson:

SAVABEEL x POLISH filly

DECLARATION OF WAR x LEDECKY’S GIRL colt
