YES TONIGHT rewarded her patient owners with an excellent win at Doomben on Wednesday following a couple of significant setbacks earlier in her career.

The rising five-year-old mare was stepping out for just her third career start at the midweek meeting, two years to the day since finishing midfield on debut at the Sunshine Coast.

It was always a gamble persevering with YES TONIGHT but trainer Steve O’Dea’s faith in the mare was suitably vindicated.

Ridden by apprentice Tiffani Brooker, Yes Tonight settled in the box-seat before taking a split in the straight and surging to a two-length victory in the 1200m maiden.

Then THORNETT almost made it a double for Proven Thoroughbreds at the meeting after finishing a narrow second in the 1350m Benchmark 60, first-up from a spell.

Proven Thoroughbreds’ other runners at the meeting included BEAU DANCER, another resuming galloper which finished a sound fourth in the 3YO 1200m maiden.

YES TONIGHT was Proven Thoroughbreds’ 22nd winner for the year, maintaining a strike rate of a winner every 11 days in 2017.

This Sunday from 9.30am, Proven Thoroughbreds and Steve O’Dea welcome all to the grand opening of Steve’s new Eagle Farm training complex. If you would like to come, email info@proventhoroughbreds.com.au.
