Proven Thoroughbreds’ three-year-old fillies CANDIKA and BLANCO CARA are set to feature in the $175,000 Group II Doomben Roses (2000m) on Saturday week.

CANDIKA and BLANCO CARA finished third and fifth respectively in last Saturday’s Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m).

CANDIKA, trained by Steve O’Dea, led the field from a wide barrier at the Gold Coast and bravely stuck on at the finish while the John Thompson-trained BLANCO CARA, a half-sister to Group I winner TAVAGO, stepped up from a maiden win at Newcastle and ran on resolutely to just miss a place.

Both fillies pulled up well from their runs and Proven Thoroughbreds is looking forward to seeing them line up over the 2000 metre journey at Doomben.
