We knew our fate early with I AM SERIOUS early last week as a five-wide run condemned the mare to defeat so we’ll be hoping for better luck in the opener at Rosehill on Saturday.

Saturday tip:

SERENE MISS (Rosehill R1 N6): Resumed from a 10-month lay off at Randwick three weeks ago and attacked the line with plenty of gusto, finishing less than 2 lengths from the winner Renewal. Drops 3.5kg into this, is unbeaten in two wet track starts and has a perfect second-up record. Just needs some speed on and she will be in the finish. At $11 she’s a value play for sure.

Futures tip:

UNFORGOTTEN (Doncaster Mile): This mare currently has only 51.5kg for the Doncaster which is certainly attractive for a Group 1 winner. In two starts this campaign she’s put in two very respectable efforts behind Winx and steps up to 2000m in the Ranvet Stakes on Saturday. If she gets anywhere near them under weight-for-age conditions then she will be beautifully placed in a handicap. Coming back from 2000m to the Randwick mile is also a tried and true formula to success in the Doncaster and we are getting $18.
