We had some joy with Trapeze Artist ($4) saluting in the Canterbury Stakes last Saturday and this week I’ve found another Group 1 runner than can hopefully keep the momentum going.

Saturday tip:

I AM SERIOUS (Rosehill R7 N11): Some of you will recall I tipped this horse as my futures bet for the Coolmore Classic a few weeks ago. At the time she was quoted at $11. Now the final field is out she is holding favouritism between $5.50 and $6. I still think she is an excellent gamble on Saturday so I’m going to tip her again – for those wondering yes I have backed her again myself – so the current odds still represent some value in my eyes. There is substantial rainfall predicted before Saturday and it’s a case of wetter the better for this mare.

Futures tip:

FORTRESS COMMAND (Champagne Stakes): This is a very promising 2yo. Not many win like he did at Newcastle last week. He was off the bit chasing on a leader bias track but still managed to circle the field and win with authority. He’s in good hands with Gerald Ryan who has flagged the champagne stakes as a target race for the Sebring colt. 1600m looks right up his alley, as does the big track of Randwick. At a time when most of the top juveniles will be in the paddock – think this horse will put his hand up and we are getting generous odds of $51.
