The curtain comes down on another Sydney autumn carnival this Saturday and I’m quietly confident we can go out with a bang.

Saturday tip:

FORTRESS COMMAND (Randwick R6 N4): Like with SANTA ANA LANE a fortnight ago, I’m going to double down on FORTRESS COMMAND here. With the many odds boost products on the market these days, as much as $301 was available for this Gerald Ryan-trained colt less than six weeks ago. Readers will know that I have followed this horse virtually from the get-go and I can’t wait to see him over a mile in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes. As of Thursday morning he was priced around the $7.50 mark. Although it’s a far cry from $301, I think the fact we are still getting each-way odds at this juncture is a luxury so I’ve opened my shoulders again. Give it strength!

Hoofnote: I am normally loathe to tip a Proven Thoroughbreds horse in fear of jinxing however I’ve decided to make an exception this week and recommend THE GOLDEN HIND on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast. Forget his first-up run, he is much better than that, and if the market over-reacts to his last start (which is normally the case with bookmakers), I think we will get some generous early odds.
