Lightly raced 5yo THORNETT franked his excellent first up run at Doomben recently with a narrow but determined victory in the 1400m C1 at the Sunshine Coast Sunday.

Slightly tardy away, the THORN PARK gelding was given a peach of a ride by Damien Browne who presented the horse to win only for the second placegetter ZOFF OF THE WORLD to fight back gamely.

THORNETT, a $60k yearling from KARAKA 2014, has now won just 2 from 14 (7 placings) but shows staying promise. Last preparation he was placed twice over 2200m and trainer Steve O’Dea will look to lengthen his races as the preparation progresses.

The victory was the 25th of the year for PROVEN THOROUGHBREDS and first for the new season.
