The spring carnival is kicking into gear in Sydney and trainer Joe Pride is in grand form saddling recent GROUP winners BALL OF MUSCLE and NEW TIPPERARY.

Saturday at Rosehill he sends out the hardy galloper TAMARACK (pictured) in the lucky last, one of a handful of Proven runners in the week ahead. A recent second at the same track over 1800m points to a competitive run from the Redwood gelding over the slightly longer 2000m.

Meantime up north, handy sprinter ARGENT ‘OR has been sent to the Sunshine Coast by Joe to contest a 1000m Open Handicap. He’s joined by a former Pride performer, MASTERATI, who debuts for Steve O’Dea in the 1200m Non Metro Winners event. Plunging 8.5kg in weight he looks beautifully placed.

Steve also puts the polish on WAS IT WORTH IT who gets out to 1800m in the opener at the Gold Coast on the same day. Sunday, the lone runner for us is the promising John Thompson trained Sebring filly, BRING ME SHOWERS, who has to contend with the outside gate in a 1200m Maiden at Wyong.

The only other starters for the week are TAHSIN, who’s second up over 1500m at Rosehill Wednesday and the Pride prepared SHOW ME THE HONEY, makes his city debut at the same track in a BM70 of 1200m.

On the trial front, unraced filly, FIGHT FOR LOVE steps out at Warwick Farm Monday for Joe whilst 24 hours later REALLY REILLY has a pipe opener at Doomben for his first try at 2000m tomorrow week.
