An exciting week ahead for the Proven Thoroughbreds roster, highlighted by THE WILD ONE, our most expensive yearling to date at $330k at this year’s MAGIC MILLIONS Gold Coast Sale.

THE WILD ONE (pictured) debuts Saturday at Doomben, and is the top pick of the race according to Racenet. The beautifully bred son of I AM INVINCIBLE out of a sister to FOXWEDGE is the first Proven two-year-old starter for the season.

Trainer Steve O’Dea identified the colt as a precocious type soon after his breaking in, but his appearance on the racetrack has been delayed by poor barrier draws and rain. No plans beyond Saturday have been set in place until after he runs.

Also on Saturday consistent stayer TAMARACK, who has only been out of a place once in his last half dozen starts, lines up again over 2400m (BM88) in a race diminished to just five runners at Rosehill.

Friday night sees another Joe Pride trainee, GAMBLESTOWN, in a 1900m BM70 Handicap at Canterbury. The first and second-placed horses from his last start when third by a couple lengths have both since won, including Savacool during the Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington.

Sunday presents a trio of O’Dea runners at the Sunshine Coast, starting with SIENNA ROSE in the first, a 1000m BM62 Handicap event. This is her second start since a long spell and she looks to be in fine form.

HI ZERO debuts in a 1200m Maiden Handicap. The son of EUROZONE won his last trial at Doomben and gets Mark Du Plesis for the ride.

Finally at the Sunshine Coast, WAS IT WORTH IT runs in a 1400m BM65 Handicap, looking for an overdue after two placings in his last two starts.

CHOUXTORIAL is Proven’s other runner in the week ahead, and will look to shed his maiden in a 1300m Handicap for John Bateman at Canberra on Sunday. He has drawn well in barrier two and was a good second last start at Goulburn.

Our lone trialist will be the Pride-trained NIJINSKA at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
