One of Proven Thoroughbreds’ more exciting three-year-olds is getting closer to a return.

SCALLOPINI (pictured), a son of the all-conquering SNITZEL, won two races impressively last preparation for our Queensland trainer Steve O’Dea and has come back bigger and stronger as a late season three-year-old.

A 1200m Class 3 event at the Sunshine Coast next Wednesday has been earmarked for SCALLOPINI, however he will also be nominated for Doomben the following Saturday.

Joe Pride’s ARGENT D’OR is another galloper waiting to kick off his preparation in the right conditions. The son of SEBRING, the same sire as our recent Group 3 winner SESAR, has accepted for Kembla Grange on Saturday in a 1000m BM70 but could be saved for another day if the track remains firm.

Proven Thoroughbreds’ other potential Saturday runner is the O’Dea-trained RECKLESS CHOICE in the 1800m Maiden at the Gold Coast.

Then on Sunday stablemate BEAU DANCER chases back-to-back wins when he lines up in the 1200m BM62 at the Sunshine Coast.

MASTERATI, a Pride-trained gelding that suffered a narrow defeat last start at Gosford, will be out to make amends in a 1400m BM70 on his home track of Warwick Farm on Wednesday while BRING ME SHOWERS, from the John Thompson stable, is set to contest the 1400m 2YO event on the same program.

The 1400m Class 2 at Kembla Grange on Thursday is a potential back-up race for MASTERATI.

On the trial front, a trio of juveniles from the John Thompson stable will have practice runs at Randwick on Monday – NIJINSKAWAR DECK and MISSED THE ALARM – while REAL STINGEVERYDAY LADY and SETOKA trial at Deagon on Tuesday for O’Dea.
