As racing wades through the uncertainty of coronavirus, the show goes on for the horses and Proven Thoroughbreds is set to be represented by four runners in the week ahead.

The latest bio-security measures undertaken by the industry include dividing states into zones. For example, in Queensland, horses can now only race in the zone in which they are stabled. As a result, jockeys and trainers have been restricted to one zone. More information on this can be found on the Racing Queensland website.

Meanwhile, the latest edition of In The Blood is available to view online HERE.

BLACKBOOKER

Few horses are successful on debut but DOUBLE MAJOR began his career in style last week. The late-maturing three-year-old made up for lost time with an authoritative win over 1100m. Doubt our owners will have to wait long for this horse to return to the winners’ circle.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners:

Newcastle Tuesday March 31

BM64 Handicap 1200m:

ROMALETTE

Joe Pride/Mitchell Bell

Comment: Never got into it first-up but was getting warm late. Typically improves sharply second-up and strikes a winnable race here.

Sunshine Coast Wednesday April 1

Class 1 Handicap 1200m:

DON’T DESPAIR

Steve O’Dea/Boris Thornton

Comment: Impressive maiden winner here first-up and will have taken benefit from the run. Always hard rising from maiden class but the stable couldn’t be happier with him.

Canberra Friday April 3

BM65 Handicap 1600m:

WAR DECK

John Bateman/Kayla Nisbet

Comment: Racing in great form – finishing in the top three at six of his last seven outings. Must be included again.

Class 1 Handicap 1300m:

AZOUSTIC

John Bateman/Kayla Nisbet

Comment: Followed up his maiden win with an eye-catching fourth over the 1400m at Goulburn. Comes back slightly in trip here but is racing well.
