With racing set to continue through the COVID-19 pandemic, Proven Thoroughbreds will be hoping to lift the spirits of our owners with five runners engaged in the week ahead.

However, one victim of the virus is our 2020 Joe Pride open day. Originally set down for April 5, the event has been postponed indefinitely. While strict bio-security protocols remain in place around the stables, any non-essential personnel are strictly prohibited – including us!

Meanwhile, the latest edition of In The Blood is available to view online HERE.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners:

Goulburn Monday March 23

BM66 Handicap 1600m:

WAR DECK

John Bateman/Kayla Nisbet

Comment: Gallant in defeat last time out. Rises in class but drops in weight and is proven over this track and distance.

BM58 Handicap 1400m:

AZOUSTIC

John Bateman/Kayla Nisbet

Comment: Broke his maiden in style here on March 12 and looks well placed to go back-to-back. Would appreciate a strong tempo.

Doomben Saturday March 28

BM78 Handicap 1350m:

SIENNA ROSE

Steve O’Dea/Stephanie Thornton

Comment: Only held ground first-up at Eagle Farm but was caught in the worst part of the track and was run off her legs early. Sure to improve second-up and her track and distance stats read well (3:1-2-0).

Sunshine Coast Sunday March 29

Class 1 Handicap 1400m:

DON’T DESPAIR

Steve O’Dea/Don’t Despair

Comment: Impressive maiden winner here first-up and will have taken benefit from the run. Looking for the 1400m now and a repeat effort would see him in the finish again.

Nowra Sunday March 29

Maiden Plate 1100m:

DOUBLE MAJOR

Joe Pride/Chad Lever

Comment: Three-year-old on debut after a pair of sound trials, running home well in his latest hit-out. Can measure up.
