The Sunshine Coast’s feature winter carnival meeting will host up to three Proven Thoroughbreds runners while in Sydney the black and lime green colours will be represented by one starter.

Among our Sunshine Coast contingent is OCEAN TREATY, a six-time winner from 14 starts returning from a spell, and in-form mare RED RUBI who is chasing a hat-trick of wins. The latter is no certainty to run yet as there is another suitable race at Eagle Farm the following Saturday. Co-trainers Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted will assess the field before making a final decision.

INVINCIANO will fly the flag for us at Rosehill on Saturday. The Joe Pride-trained mare is second-up from a break and is on trial for a trip north for the Group 3 Pam O’Neill Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm on July 9.

BLACK BOOKER

GOSSIP COLUMN appears to have come back a stronger horse this time in. First-up over 1200m at Doomben, she had to cross from the outside gate and showed plenty of tenacity in the straight to hold down second. With that run under her belt, she will be a strong chance next start, particularly if she can draw a soft barrier.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Eagle Farm Wednesday June 29

QTIS 3YO BM68 Handicap 1400m:

MERSEYSIDE

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Jaden Lloyd (a1.5)

Comment: Consistent performer. Finished off strongly to win at the Sunshine Coast two back and then was sound again coming back in trip at Doomben. Appears to be more effective ridden quieter.

Moruya Friday July 1

Maiden Handicap 1200m:

COOL RECEPTION

Kerry Parker/James Innes Jnr

Comment: Pulled up sore when finishing down the course as favourite at Hawkesbury last start. Drops back to country grade here and previous form would see her go close to winning.

Sunshine Coast Saturday July 2

Provincial Series Final BM80 Handicap 1200m

RED RUBI

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Boris Thornton

Comment: Winner of her last two, including a brilliant performance at Doomben when relishing a hot speed. Rises to Saturday company for the first time but is at the top of her game.

QTIS 3YO Handicap 1000m:

THATFEELSBETTER

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Jaden Lloyd (a1.5)

Comment: Returning from a freshen. Was narrowly beaten at Eagle Farm back in May when crossing to lead from a wide draw. An ideal barrier here has him right in this.

QTIS 3YO Handicap 1000m:

OCEAN TREATY

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Jaden Lloyd (a1.5)

Comment: Classy mare resuming. Generally takes a run to hit her peak and will be better over further. Look for her to be running on late.

Rosehill Saturday July 2

BM88 Handicap 1500m

INVINCIANO

Joe Pride/Jay Ford

Comment: Had to work from a wide draw first-up over 1300m but stuck on ok at the finish. Much better suited up to 1500m and has drawn to get favours in the run.
