This week the focus switches from the sale ring to the racetrack for Proven Thoroughbreds.
Proven acquired 11 yearlings at the recently concluded 2021 Inglis Classic Sale, of which nine will be joining the Joe Pride stable and two to Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted (See AVAILABLE HORSES).
That takes our total number of yearlings so far this season to 27 with a few more sales coming up in quick succession.
But for now, the team will be represented on the racetrack by up to seven runners between Thursday and Sunday.
Five of those runners either won or placed at their previous start while another is on debut. Best of luck to all our owners as we strive to continue what has been a grand start to 2021 with 11 winners in less than six weeks.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Doomben Thursday February 11
Maiden Plate 1350m:
TRAVOLI
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Stephanie Thornton
Comment: Didn’t fire at Eagle Farm first-up but had trialled well leading into that. Could bounce back at odds switching to Doomben.
Wagga Thursday February 11
Maiden Handicap 1300m:
BHUTAN
John Bateman/Blaike McDougall
Comment: Encouraging debut when making a stack of ground down the outside at Goulburn. Should appreciate the extra distance here and the long Wagga straight. Top rider engaged too.
Canterbury Friday February 12
Maiden Handicap 1550m:
SILVER SCISSORS
Joe Pride/Tim Clark
Comment: Improving with every run this prep and looks primed to strike third-up out to 1550m. Will appreciate a genuine tempo.
Randwick Saturday February 13
Highway Class 3 Handicap 1800m:
LAMINGTON DRIVE
John Bateman/Hugh Bowman
Comment: Shooting for a hat-trick and gets Bowman aboard in what appears a thin class 3. Drawn the middle and is adaptable so wouldn’t surprise to see him go close again.
Doomben Saturday February 13
QTIS 3YO Fillies Handicap 1200m:
LITTLE RIVER
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson
Comment: Only bloused late first-up after appearing the winner a fair way from home. Will be improved for the run and was an impressive winner second-up last time in. Does bump into a smart one though.
Class 6 Plate 1200m:
KYLEASE
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Stephanie Thornton
Comment: Surprise winner first-up when allowed to dictate in front over 1000m. She’s much more effective up to 1200m and will be suited at Doomben.
Nowra Sunday February 14
Showcase Maiden Handicap 1100m:
TORINDA
Joe Pride/TBA
Comment: Sound trials this time in should see him start in the market here. May ultimately need further than 1100m but has shown enough to suggest he can win this. Wet track some query.
