Two key chances at Doomben on Saturday headline Proven Thoroughbreds’ runners in the week ahead.

Stakes winning mare CANDIKA resumes in the $125,000 Listed Nudgee Stakes (1200m) for Steve O’Dea while stablemate REALLY REILLY lines up in the $100,000 Racing QLD Summer Provincial Series Final (1350m).

But before that, the Joe Pride-trained TAMARACK will be out to rediscover his form from last summer in the 1200m C2 at Canberra on Friday.

Should two of the three aforementioned runners win, Proven Thoroughbreds will finish 2017 with a record 50 winners.

The New Year will be ushered in by the John Thompson-trained pair GREENSPAN and LAST WISH at Randwick. The former will start in the 1800m BM70 Handicap for three-year-olds while the latter contests the $150,000 Listed Tattersalls Club Cup (2400m).

On Wednesday, promising filly NICCONITA runs in a 1300m maiden at Kembla for John Bateman while CHOREOGRAPH resumes for the O’Dea stable in the 1350m QTIS Maiden Handicap at Doomben.

Two members of the Pride yard are scheduled to trial at Warwick Farm on Thursday – metropolitan performers ARGENT D’OR and BROOK MAGIC (pictured).
