A number of runners on Saturday herald an intriguing week for PROVEN THOROUGHBREDS highlighted by our older brigade. Of our 9 scheduled runners for the week there’s only a trio of 3 year olds.

Saturday sees the black & lime green carried at three locations. The consistent Joe Pride trained 4 year old ARGENT D’OR backs up 7 days for the first time and gets out to 1350m at Rosehill in the B83. Another promising  horse of the same vintage, TAHSIN (pictured) takes on Saturday company for the first time in the lucky last of 1500m for John Thompson and jockey Christian Reith.

Meantime up in Brisbane the white hot Steve O’Dea (a treble Wednesday including a PROVEN double) sends out the experienced  REALLY REILLY (a 2011 model) in the 1600m B75 at Doomben. Damien Browne, whose last three rides for us have yielded three winners, rides. Then LOTHARIO, a 5 year old winner of 4 from 23, returns from a let up in the 1200m Non Sat Metro Winners’ event.

Down the road at the Gold Coast, lightly raced 3 year old BEAU DANCER will jump from an inside barrier in the 1200m Maiden. And on Monday back in NSW SAVABEEL 4 year old READABEEL, goes for her second victory for Goulburn trainer John Bateman in the 1600m B55 on her home track.

Also on Monday Joe Pride saddles up the returning old soldier GAMBLESTOWN (born in 2010) in an 800m Trial at Warwick Farm and also sends out SO YOU THINK 4 year old SO SPIRITED for a similar assignment. Both will be paraded at our JOE PRIDE OPEN MORNING this Sunday from 9.30.

The week is rounded out by another to resume from a significant break, THE GRANDSON. The 4 year old stallion, a son of SAVABEEL, lines up in the 1250m B70 at Canterbury for John Thompson with Blake Shinn having his first ride on the big fella. Up at Doomben Steve O’Dea is contemplating whether to run both 3 year olds SETOKA & WAS IT WORTH IT, in the 1350m Maiden.
