Redwood gelding TAMARACK put in a tradesman like performance to win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Beautifully placed in the 2400m BM76 Handicap, TAMARACK started favourite and proved the superior stayer under the vigorous riding of Tye Angland.

The five-year-old had been patiently brought up to the 2400m by trainer Joe Pride (pictured) this preparation and it was undoubtedly the key factor in Wednesday’s success.

Though a winner over 1200m, 1350m and 1900m during his previous 20 starts, it has become evident that TAMARACK has a liking for genuine staying distances and will strike 2400m again in 10 days’ time at Rosehill where a BM88 Handicap awaits.

Proven Thoroughbreds’ tally of winners for the year is now up to 33.

Some shares remain in another of Redwood’s progeny with Proven Thoroughbreds – the REDWOOD x ELLA MAREE colt to be trained by Archie Alexander.
