Two-year-old filly SIENNA ROSE converted her strong form into a maiden win at Grafton on Sunday.

The Steve O’Dea (pictured)-trained galloper lined up for her fifth career outing in the 1206m maiden following a commendable fifth behind subsequent stakes placegetter Granny Red Shoes at the Sunshine Coast last month.

After settling towards the tail of the field from a wide draw, SIENNA ROSE was hooked to the extreme outside in the home straight and finished off strongly to edge out Almas on the line.

It was an overdue win for the daughter of MORE THAN READY, considering she was good enough to run a placing on debut in Saturday metropolitan company last year.

With Group I winner and Royal Ascot contender Merchant Navy high up in her pedigree, a city win would greatly enhance this filly’s value after being purchased for $100k at last year’s Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

SIENNA ROSE brought up Proven Thoroughbreds’ 15th winner for the calendar year, of which nine are trained by O’Dea.
