Hulking chestnut SHOW ME THE HONEY made the perfect start to his career when winning impressively over 1000m at Gosford on Thursday.

Following a strong barrier trial win at Warwick Farm last week, the Joe Pride-trained gelding started a short-priced favourite in the provincial maiden.

But after a sluggish getaway from the barriers, SHOW ME THE HONEY was posted three-wide without cover – a far from ideal scenario for a big horse negotiating the tight-turning circuit of Gosford.

Fortunately, jockey Jay Ford kept the horse balanced and the three-year-old son of Choisir dug deep to prevail in a photo finish.

The result took Proven Thoroughbreds’ tally of winners for the calendar year to 39 while Pride’s hot form continues with nine winners from the stable’s last 18 starters.

Congratulations to SHOW ME THE HONEY’s owners on a thrilling debut win!

Proven Thoroughbreds still has shares on offer in the Joe Pride-trained ZOUSTAR x CLASSIC GUITAR colt, whose half-brother won his third start by six lengths last Tuesday! Shares start at $2,550.
