Proven Thoroughbreds’ sole purchase at the 2020 NZB Karaka Yearling Sale was a stylish filly by an exciting first season sire.

Proven paid NZ$50k for lot 876, a daughter of TIVACI from SNOWDONIA.

On the racetrack, TIVACI belied his stout pedigree by winning over distances between 1000m and 1600m. His crowning moment came at his final start when prevailing in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick, defeating the likes of LE ROMAIN, REDKIRK WARRIOR and ENGLISH.

But the most appealing aspect of TIVACI’s profile is that he is the only horse by HIGH CHAPARRAL in the world to have won a Group 1 under 1600m.

Not surprisingly, TIVACI was the most prominent first season sire at the sale, with 40 lots sold for an aggregate of almost $4 million. His top lot fetched an impressive NZ$500,000.

It is this blend of speed and stamina that prompted Proven Thoroughbreds’ Jamie Walter to source a yearling from TIVACI’s first crop and we landed on lot 876.

This filly is a half-sister to 3 stakes performers including 10-time winner LUEN YAT EVERWIN (by ENCOSTA DE LAGO).

We are yet to know how TIVACI matches with daughters of PEINTRE CELEBRE but when mated with TIVACI’s sire HIGH CHAPARRAL the cross has been potent, yielding 8 winners (inc 3 stakes performers) from 11 runners.

“This is a powerfully built filly by an exciting sprinter-miler son of High Chaparral who raced and defeated the best of his generation here in Australia.” – trainer Joe Pride

We anticipate shares will cost approximately $2k for 2.5% (subject to final calculations).
