The Steve O’Dea/Stephanie Thornton/Proven combination continued on its winning ways with talented 3yo THE WILD ONE saluting at Ipswich on Wednesday.

Just over five weeks after dishing out a five-length galloping lesson to his rivals at Grafton, THE WILD ONE took the notoriously difficult step from maiden company to class 1 grade with aplomb.

It was an expert steer from the inside gate by Thornton, who peeled her mount off the fence at the 600m mark to ensure an uninterrupted run to the line, sealing a half-length victory.

The son of I AM INVINCIBLE is now two from two since being gelded and looks a genuine city class horse in the making for his ownership group, which includes Luskin Park Stud Racing and Wilf Mula (Aston Bloodstock).

Proven Thoroughbreds’ strategy to target Queensland racing has paid huge dividends for our clients. THE WILD ONE is our 11th Brisbane metro winner from the last 10 weeks and 51st winner in total for the year.

Proven and O’Dea hold another strong hand heading into this Saturday’s Eagle Farm meeting with RECKLESS CHOICE, CONTEMPTUOUS and FRANCISCA all prominent in early markets on their respective races.
