Any breeder can tell you the potency of PIERRO crossed with DANEHILL line mares, but few may know the undeniable influence of SIR TRISTRAM in those matings.

SIR TRISTRAM is of course the sire of PIERRO’s grandsire ZABEEL, so any appearance of SIR TRISTRAM on the dam side of a PIERRO foal will represent a degree of inbreeding.

Inbreeding has a negative connotation to some, but in the thoroughbred world, the right amount of inbreeding can be a goldmine.

A look at PIERRO’s 25 stakes winners to date reveals nine (36%) have a duplication of SIR TRISTRAM including the likes of PIERATAPINOTPERSAN ROCHA CLOCK.

Of the remaining 16 stakes winners, 12 have a duplication of SIR TRISTRAM’s sire SIR IVOR in the first six generations.

Combine this with the highly successful DANEHILL line nick (104 winners15 SW$36+ million prizemoney) and your PIERRO is looking pretty good.

One such PIERRO is the colt from ASHLEIGH Proven Thoroughbreds purchased for $80k + GST at this year’s Inglis Classic Sale.

He is out of a DANEHILL line mare (CHOISIR = 3 winners from 3 starters) and is inbred to SIR TRISTRAM 5m x 4m.

The only other PIERRO that obeys these two factors is….PIERATA! (see below pedigree pages).

With ASHLEIGH being a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner DANLEIGHthis colt is exceptional value at $2,500 + GST for 2.5%. Joe Pride at Warwick Farm will be the trainer.
