The promising THINK ABOUT IT vindicated trainer Joe Pride’s big opinion of the gelding with another emphatic victory on Saturday at Randwick whilst another late maturer, OCEAN TREATY secured her 7th win from just 19 starts at Doomben.
It was a memorable day for Proven followers as neither victory was entirely expected. THINK ABOUT IT had built an imposing winning record prior to Saturday’s assignment but as trainer Joe Pride stated post-race;
“They just don’t win a BM72, then a BM78 and follow it up with a BM88 victory. He’s a horse with a future”.
The SO YOU THINK 4yo has now won 5 from 6 and whilst his winning margins are invariably narrow, he keeps getting the job done.
A $70k purchase from Newgate Farm, THINK ABOUT IT’s future is now firmly in the hands of Pride who will carefully consider his upcoming assignments.
Meantime, in Brisbane consistent mare OCEAN TREATY (pictured) again showed her liking for the Doomben 1600m trip and especially at her second run back from a spell. It was her 4th victory from 6 starts second up and her second victory from just a trio of tries over the mile course at the track.
Her triumph was another classic example of the advantage of inside gates. In a copybook rails hugging ride, Ben Thompson did not go round a solitary horse when guiding the 6yo to her latest win.
“She’s a beauty and been great to me. She’s a multiple Saturday winner still loving her racing and work, and a pleasure to have around. Hopefully she can now put a few more together,” said Thompson.
Saturday’s double elevated Proven’s winning total to 8 for 2023 with prizemoney eclipsing half a millions dollars since January 1.
