An excellent ride by Jeff Penza helped four-year-old gelding UNYIELDING post his fourth career win at Canberra on Friday.

With a handicap of 60kg there is always a temptation to utilise an apprentice jockey’s claim but the booking of Penza proved a winning move by trainer Nick Olive.

The son of I Am Invincible has a tendency to over-race, but appreciated the fast-run 1080-metre dash as well as the hands of Penza.

UNYIELDING emerged from a midfield position to make his run down the outside of the Canberra Acton track and score by a length, enhancing his record to four wins and 13 minor placings from 24 starts.

It was Proven Thoroughbreds’ ninth success since June 9 and 24th for the calendar year.

The win also marked Olive’s 500th career win and sealed his seventh Canberra trainers’ premiership.
