The rapidly improving UNDERHAND gave the track record a nudge in winning over the 800m course at Warwick on Thursday.

The daughter of WINNING RUPERT stopped the clock 0.07 seconds outside the track record set back in 2014.

Apprentice jockey Emily Lang took no prisoners on UNDERHAND, crossing from a wide gate to clearly lead the field into the home turn before bounding away by five lengths on the post.

“She was super once again. She just keeps getting better and better,” Lang declared post-race.

“She nearly left me behind in the gates today she began that well!”

Co-trainers Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted have patiently managed UNDERHAND which has seen her win three of her last four starts.

A $130,000 yearling from Kenmore Lodge’s draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Sale, UNDERHAND has banked more than $80,000 in her seven career starts.

O’Dea and Hoysted will now likely target an 800m BM75 at Ipswich next month with the 4YO mare.

UNDERHAND becomes Proven’s 3rd winner for the new season and 40th for the calendar year.
