A top class son of SNITZEL out of a DOMESDAY mare, TRAPEZE ARTIST was expected to hit the ground running with his progeny.
He was everything colonial stallions aspire to – a multiple Group 1 winning sprinter active from 2 years old to 4 years old.
However, the wonderful mystery of genetics would prove deceptive once again.
His first stakes winner came in the shape of GRIFF in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas…over 1600m. And this was just the tip of the iceberg.
In season 2024-25 he has produced:
- 1 winner at 1000m from 11 juvenile runners
- 25 3yo winners from 57 starters (12% at a mile & beyond)
- 39 4yo winners from 86 starters (48.7% at a mile & beyond!!!)
His latest stakes winner was Proven Thoroughbreds’ 4yo gelding FLYING BANDIT in last Friday’s $200,000 Listed Wagga Cup – over 2000m!
So it would appear that TRAPEZE ARTIST’s progeny are starting to find their groove over middle distances. FLYING BANDIT’s trainer Kerry Parker knows that better than anyone and so has been appointed as trainer of the TRAPEZE ARTIST x LANU MOANA filly (pictured) Proven purchased from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Being out of an OCEAN PARK mare, this daughter of TRAPEZE ARTIST arguably has even more stamina in her pedigree than FLYING BANDIT. What can’t be disputed is she comes from a much more accomplished family with Group 1 winning relatives like VISION AND POWER, ESPIONA, STEPS IN TIME and GLAMOUR PUSS.
