This week’s edition of Tom’s Punt Hunt features a runner in the Guy Walter Proven Thoroughbreds Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
Saturday tip:
BELLA MARTINI (Randwick R8 N4): She was forced to go back from the wide draw last time and she really motored home, clocking one of the fastest closing splits of the day. Has an exemplary second-up record (3:2-1-0) and can only see her improving up to 1400m. Second-up last campaign she was narrowly beaten by I Am A Star (Group 1 winner) before finishing a close-up fourth behind Shillelagh in the Group 1 Myer Classic two starts later. Expecting her to settle a bit closer in the run this time and looks a great each-way play around the $8 mark.
Futures tip:
DUBIOUS (Golden Slipper): We are yet to see a dominant two-year-old so far this season which gives me reason to believe the Golden Slipper is still wide open. The Todman Stakes is traditionally a great guide to the Slipper and this horse is sure to be a leading contender in this year’s edition of the race on Saturday week. Saw him trial earlier this week and he was excellent, running quick time. Think if he makes any sort of impression in the Todman he won’t be $21.
