Promising 3YO SPIN DOCTOR continues his spring campaign when he lines up at Doomben on Saturday.

The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained gelding resumed with a fast-finishing third over Doomben’s 1200m course last month, readying him for Saturday’s 1350m assignment which could precede loftier targets.

SPIN DOCTOR’s stablemates THATFEELSBETTER and WITH INTENT are also set to return to raceday action this week; the former entered for Eagle Farm’s midweek fixture while the latter is down to run at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

On Friday morning at Randwick, PRIVATE EYE will step out for his second spring trial as he prepares to take on a host of Everest hopefuls in the $1million Shorts (1100m) back at Randwick on September 16.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Eagle Farm Wednesday September 6

Maiden Plate 1000m

POLARISING

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Jaden Lloyd

Comment: Scratched last week due to a wide gate. Draws much better here on a big track so should get her chance to break through following two encouraging placings.

Class 3 Handicap 1000m

THATFEELSBETTER

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Jaden Lloyd

Comment: Resuming. Boasts an impressive first-up record (4:3-1-0) including a win over this distance in the same company last campaign. Expecting him to run well.

BM68 Handicap 1400m

HANG FIVE

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Justin Huxtable

Comment: Looks ready to win following two sound efforts over 1200m. Won over this course and distance when third-up last preparation. Just has to overcome a potentially awkward barrier.

Doomben Saturday September 9

QTIS 3YO Handicap 1350m

SPIN DOCTOR

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA

Comment: Ran on strongly first-up at this track over 1200m, finishing third. Fitter and gives every indication he will appreciate getting out in trip which he gets here.

Sunshine Coast Sunday September 10

Class 2 Handicap 1000m

ZOOCUPOLA

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA

Comment: Freshened since two placings back from a spell. Won on debut over this course and distance so must be included among the main chances.

Maiden Handicap 1000m

WITH INTENT

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA

Comment: Consistent type resuming. Finished fourth and third in initial campaign, beaten a combined margin of only 2.5 lengths. Looks better than maiden company.
