Stable star PRIVATE EYE will launch his spring campaign in Saturday’s Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick.
The dual Everest placegetter has been given two quiet trials ahead of his return. He tackles 2022 Everest winner GIGA KICK and star mare BELLA NIPOTINA. PRIVATE EYE was a close 2nd to IMPERATRIZ when resuming in the G1 Lightning Stakes (1000m) during the autumn. A repeat of that surely sees him go close?
We’ve lowered our sights a tad for THE BLACK CLOUD with the filly set to run in a BM88 on Saturday week but not before a trial against Everest contender BUSTLING at Rosehill this Thursday.
We have open days coming up with Kerry Parker (September 15 at Kembla) and Matt Hoysted (September 29 at Eagle Farm). If you’d like to attend either or both events please get in touch via our CONTACT US page.

SIRE ON FIRE – STREET BOSS
Took out the first Group 1 of the Victorian season when PINSTRIPED won the Memsie Stakes then shortly after ANOTHER WIL produced the best last 400m and 200m of the day to win the Caulfield closer.
BLACK BOOKER – OCEAN ZAR
Resumed at the Sunny Coast on Sunday and had no luck getting squeezed up on the fence. Unbeaten second-up and watch for sharp improvement.
BET WITH NIC
The astonishing run continues with Nic making it 12 winners from 16 tips as we all cheered home CEOWULF last weekend.
“I think MANAAL had too much to do when resuming with 58kg at 1200m. Strips fitter, meets them at level weights and her ratings get better with a run under the belt. The filly up from Melbourne, DRIFTING, comes out of a strong race so we should get a price on MANAAL.”
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Sunshine Coast Wednesday September 4
Class 1 Handicap 1800m
SPIN DOCTOR
Matt Hoysted/Boris Thornton
Comment: Beaten as a long odds on favourite last start but that was his first go this distance range and we expect him to improve. However he is yet to prove himself beyond the mile and his late sectionals weren’t that great last time. Has class but short enough.
Randwick Saturday September 7
G3 Concorde Stakes 1000m
PRIVATE EYE
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Star sprinter resuming. Finished 2nd in G1 WFA company over 1000m when resuming last campaign. Flies fresh with 3 of his top 5 career peaks coming first-up and loves Randwick.
G2 Tramway Stakes 1400m
STOCKMAN
Joe Pride/Reece Jones
Comment: Evergreen stayer resuming. Has reeled off the fastest last 200m of the day on two occasions when resuming at this distance. Unlikely to trouble these but watch for him to close late and progress over further.
Doomben Saturday September 7
Class 6 Plate 1350m
NAVAL TRADER
Matt Hoysted/Nikita Beriman
Comment: Second-up. Solid run first-up when on pace and just tiring late. His ratings have improved between 1L and 2.5L at his past two second-up runs and a repeat would see him in the mix here albeit this is tougher.
Hawkesbury Saturday September 7
F&M Maiden Plate 1400m
TRAPELLA
Joe Pride/TBA
Comment: Ok first-up then never a factor when back in an on-paced dominated race second-up. Strips fitter but she needs to lift off her most recent performance to figure here.
BM68 Handicap 1400m
FLYING BANDIT
Kerry Parker/TBA
Comment: Highly progressive middle distance type that is 2 from 3 and won a recent trial ahead of his second campaign. Will no doubt be better over further but this looks a winnable target fresh-up.
