Joe Pride-trained duo PRIVATE EYE and STOCKMAN will lead the line for Proven Thoroughbreds at Rosehill’s Golden Eagle meeting on Saturday.

PRIVATE EYE, runner-up in The Everest last start, will take his place in the $3 million Nature Strip Stakes (1300m) while STOCKMAN’s final preparation for next Tuesday’s Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) will come in the shape of the $750,000 Rosehill Gold Cup (2000m).

Both horses have been amazing success stories for our owners this spring. Between them, they have banked $2,823,700 from seven trips to the races.

Meanwhile in Brisbane, we will have a couple of runners at Eagle Farm’s Saturday meeting – PALAZZO SPIRIT and BETTER GET SET for co-trainers Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Randwick-Kensington Wednesday Oct 26

Maiden Plate 1300m:

LICHESTER

Joe Pride/Brenton Avdulla

Comment: Sound on debut when fifth of 12 over 1200m at Newcastle. More experienced and the extra 100m will suit.

Rosehill Saturday Oct 29

Nature Strip Stakes 1300m:

PRIVATE EYE

Joe Pride/Brenton Avdulla

Comment: Courageous effort to finish a close second in The Everest, running past the likes of Nature Strip. Top class horse but might be looking for a touch further than 1300m following two big performances over 1200m.

Rosehill Gold Cup 2000m:

STOCKMAN

Joe Pride/Sam Clipperton

Comment: Dominant winner of the St Leger last start. Drops back 600m in distance is the query but looks a perfect lead-up run into next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.

Eagle Farm Saturday Oct 29

Class 3 Handicap 1200m:

BETTER GET SET

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson

Comment: Got within half a length of the winner over this track and distance last start. Should be ready to fire third-up and looks well placed in this company.

QTIS 3YO BM72 Handicap 1000m:

PALAZZO SPIRIT

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson

Comment: Juvenile stakes winner over this track and distance last season. Twice a winner fresh and has been fitted with three trials. Blinkers go on.
