Promising filly FETCH faces a stern test of her credentials at Doomben on Saturday.
The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained filly lines up in a select 3YO Fillies Handicap over 1200m, headed by Group performer INVINSIBLE TEARS, who coincidentally is a half-sister to the NOT A SINGLE DOUBT x NETWORKING filly (now named MINGLE) Proven Thoroughbreds purchased earlier this year.
FETCH was unlucky when finishing fourth first-up over 1000m at Eagle Farm. Shuffled back to the tail in a dawdling-run affair, the filly was forced to make her run along the inside section of the home straight where the ground was deemed to be inferior. If she can win this Saturday, then we would consider some stakes goals for the daughter of SEBRING.
Running at the same meeting will be the in-form CONTEMPTUOUS. The lightly-raced gelding deservedly captured his first Saturday win on October 3 and hasn’t taken a backwards step since.
In other news, Golden Eagle contender PRIVATE EYE put in a slashing trial at Randwick on Tuesday as he prepares for a shot at $7.5 million at Rosehill on October 30. Trainer Joe Pride has been delighted with the horse since his Group 1 Epsom triumph.

Comment: Talented 3YO who was too classy first-up here over 1200m. Lacks race experience but looks well placed again and drawn to get favours in the run.
Comment: Finished just outside the placegetters first-up over 1200m and is sure to have taken natural improvement from that run. Still has a tendency to over-race but last start would suggest she’s heading in the right direction.
Comment: Back from a freshen-up since running fourth in Saturday company last month. Well placed in Class 3 company and has won twice previously for Steph Thornton.
Comment: Should have finished closer first-up and much better suited up to 1200m. Looks a strong race but gets in with no weight and has always shown above average ability.
Comment: Shooting for a hat-trick. Deserved Saturday winner over this course and distance last start and gets the benefit of Jaden Lloyd’s claim again.
