Everest week is here and Proven Thoroughbreds is in the fortunate position of having two live chances in the $20 million showpiece event.
THINK ABOUT IT and PRIVATE EYE are both hard in the market to win the 2023 edition of The Everest, to be run at Randwick on Saturday October 14.
Proven is the first syndication company to have multiple runners in The Everest since its inception in 2017.
Trainer Joe Pride has done a sterling job with our charges, winning both major lead ups to The Everest; the Shorts 1100m (PRIVATE EYE) and the Premiere Stakes 1200m (THINK ABOUT IT).
Win, lose or draw, we are incredibly privileged to be a part of The Everest again this year and wish our owners the very best of luck on Saturday.
Meanwhile, our other runners this week will be in Brisbane comprising the Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained trio MERSEYSIDE, BETTER YET and SECRET TALES.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Ipswich Wednesday October 11
BM70 Handicap 1350m
MERSEYSIDE
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson
Comment: Was doing her best work late in an on-pace dominated affair over this distance at Doomben last start. Looks ready to peak third-up and drawn to take up a more prominent position in the run.
Sunshine Coast Friday October 13
F&M BM62 Handicap 1400m
BETTER YET
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Sound effort first-up, finishing 1.7 lengths off the winner over this track and distance last month. Fitter and was narrowly beaten over this trip when second-up last campaign.
Randwick Saturday October 14
The Everest 1200m
PRIVATE EYE
Joe Pride/Nash Rawiller
Comment: Coming off a super win first-up in the Shorts under set weights and penalties conditions. Better suited under the weight-for-age scale and gets to 1200m now. Ran second in this last year and all indications are he is going just as well this year.
THINK ABOUT IT
Joe Pride/Sam Clipperton
Comment: Dual Group 1 winner shooting for his 11th win from 12 starts and is still relatively untapped. Kept his winning streak intact with a narrow but decisive victory in the Premiere Stakes. This is his toughest test to date but hard to knock a horse that keeps finding a way to win.
Eagle Farm Saturday October 14
BM80 Handicap 1400m
SECRET TALES
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: No luck on resumption at Toowoomba when disappointed for a run in the home straight. Has an excellent second-up record (three wins from four attempts) so don’t be surprised if she bounces back up to 1400m.
