A trio of Proven Thoroughbreds horses will be looking to shed their maiden tag this week.

HIGH TRIBUTE, CAPTURED IN TIME and YOU CHOOSE are chasing the first (and often the most important) win of their respective careers.

The Joe Pride-trained CAPTURED IN TIME (pictured) is probably the best positioned to progress from maiden company, having produced three solid runs to date.

Five other gallopers are set to face the starter in the week ahead, including honest metropolitan performer SNIPPY FOX at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Last week unfortunately saw SCALLOPINI scratched from the Gold Coast Goldmarket due to a minor injury sustained in trackwork. Scans have since revealed nothing sinister so the accomplished son of SNITZEL is likely to resume his campaign later this month.

Doomben’s set of trials on Tuesday saw the promising FETCH comfortably dispose of her rivals as she prepares for the Listed Bill Carter Stakes (1200m) on May 22. The unbeaten filly will be joined by stablemate STELLAR MAGIC in the race.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Warwick Farm Wednesday May 12

BM72 Handicap 1400m:

SNIPPY FOX

Joe Pride/Campbell Rawiller (a3)

Comment: Ready to fire third-up from a break but has drawn the carpark. If she can cross without doing too much work she’s a definite winning chance on her home track.

Wyong Thursday May 13

3YO Maiden Handicap 1350m:

HIGH TRIBUTE

Joe Pride/Regan Bayliss

Comment: Resumes off the back of an encouraging trial victory but may find a couple of her rivals too sharp around Wyong. Racing as though she will excel once she gets out to a mile and beyond.

Kembla Grange Saturday May 15

BM64 Handicap 1300m:

MACCOMO

Joe Pride/Rory Hutchings

Comment: On-speed type who was game in defeat first-up over 1200m. Will be suited going up to 1300m and has won at this track previously.

GREENSPAN

John Bateman/Madison Waters (a3)

Comment: Hit the line well first-up at Warwick Farm to finish 2.4 lengths from the winner. Hasn’t raced for over a month so stays at 1300m. Would prefer the track to dry out more for him to be a winning chance.

Maiden Handicap 1400m:

CAPTURED IN TIME

Joe Pride/Brodie Loy

Comment: Unplaced in three starts to date but hasn’t been far away, finishing fourth, fifth and fourth. Got too far back at Bathurst last time but was doing his best work late. Can win if he draws a decent barrier.

Gold Coast Saturday May 15

Maiden Handicap 1200m:

YOU CHOOSE

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Baylee Nothdurft

Comment: Disappointed in two runs to date despite showing ability at the trials. This looks easier than last start and should be improved for the run.

Sunshine Coast Sunday May 16

BM68 Handicap 1600m:

MISSED THE ALARM

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Baylee Nothdurft

Comment: Was always going to find 1400m first-up too sharp but she found the line well to finish within five lengths of the winner. Generall races well here and can only improve rising to a mile second-up.

TOO HOT TO HOLD

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Stephanie Thornton

Comment: Been out of the placings in all three starts this prep but has been hampered by wet tracks in two of those runs. Gets out to her preferred trip here and is a chance if the track dries out.
