Talented filly FORTUNEER will target the TL Cooney (1350m) at Ipswich on June 22 as she progresses towards a crack at a mile.
The daughter of RUBICK finished a creditable fourth in the Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1200m) last Saturday at Eagle Farm.
If she handles the 1350m at Ipswich on their stand-alone Saturday meeting then co-trainers Matt Hoysted and Steve O’Dea will look towards the Group 3 Winx Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast next month.
MOONFLEET won well last week at Doomben after covering ground and has earned a spell while THE BLACK CLOUD is set to head south to Melbourne.
She was a gallant second to the talented FLEETWOOD last weekend at Randwick and trainer Joe Pride is likely to run her at Flemington on June 22 in the Creswick Stakes Heat (1100m).

SIRE ON FIRE – ALMANZOR
Had a double at Flemington with VIRTUOUS CIRCLE winning the Lesley Hewitt Trophy (2000m) and RISE AT DAWN taking out the Longden Mile (1600m). The versatility this sire is showing is really catching our attention.
BLACK BOOKER – ACCREDITED
We think he’s run into two stakes horses in the making at his first two runs this prep and we’ve also landed at the conclusion he’s much better on firm footing. Look for him at Warwick Farm on June 26. If he gets a dry track it could be the day he gets back into the winners’ circle – maybe for the NSW Blues later that night too!
BET WITH NIC
Our resident times analyst Nic Ashman is heading to the Eagle Farm closer on Saturday and backing a European import who failed at his first Australian run.
“ADELAIDE RIVER posted strong ratings in Europe and we were keen on him when he debuted down under on June 1. Despite being heavily backed he battled home when settling worse than midfield. This week we expect him to be on pace and prove hard to run down.”

Comment: Resumes and will appreciate longer. Could’ve just about won with a clear crack at them fresh last campaign over a similar trip. Good place chance at the $12 quote.

DONELEGANCE

Comment: Was a noticeable drifter when just holding her ground on debut at Kembla on a heavy track. We are expecting an improved showing onto a drier surface here.

TERMAGANT
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Emily Lang (a)
Comment: Resumes in her second prep. Was four wide no cover when resuming last campaign at Ipswich and was only beaten 0.3L. Then atoned with monster 5L win this course and distance. Trialled like a jet recently and despite the wide gate should prove very hard to beat here.
Maiden Plate 1400m
CHATTERBOX
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Nikita Beriman
Comment: Second-up. Over-raced on top of the speed when making debut here over shorter trip. The concern is how she behaves in running going up in trip but we feel a drier track and the benefit of that experience will give us a better guide.
BM68 Handicap 1400m
HANG FIVE
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Nikita Beriman
Comment: Well beaten in tougher company last time out but did race wide without cover. Back in grade will help but he’s drawn terribly so we’d need to see them running on down the middle to grow some confidence.
Rosehill Saturday June 15
BM72 Handicap 1400m
LITTLE COINTREAU
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Produced the 2nd fastest last 1000m of the meeting to win first-up and had a good blow afterwards. Could be in for a big prep and this looks a nice stepping stone in terms of class but he’s drawn wide so we’ll need some luck finding a bum and getting into the race without covering too much extra ground.
BM72 Handicap 1100m
IN FLIGHT
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Terrific win first-up at Gosford smashing the class benchmark by 4L then not a lot went right when a beaten favourite at Randwick last time. Should get a nice run in behind the speed and gets her chance to atone here.
Sunshine Coast Sunday Jun 16
QTIS 3YO Handicap 1000m
TOWN CRIER
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Resumes. Only win to date was first-up when beating subsequent city winner, PAYLINE. Recent trial against better horses than these was ok.
