The postponed Sunshine Coast Cup meeting will be held on a rare Sunday time slot as STOCKMAN chases back-to-back stakes wins.
The Joe Pride-trained stayer was a $1.80 favourite in the $175,000 Caloundra Cup (2400m) before heavy rain forced officials to call off the meeting on race morning.
Fortunately, STOCKMAN has been able to remain in Queensland at the Eagle Farm stables of Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted and has given no indication the week’s delay will be of any consequence on Sunday.
Also running at the rescheduled meeting, is SCALLOPINI, who lines up in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) in search of his 10th career win from 29 starts.
Elsewhere, impressive last start winner RUBINOCCHI has been entered for races at Randwick and Newcastle this Saturday while GOTTA KISS’s 2yo half-sister LIKE A KISS (by I AM INVINCIBLE) is set to debut at Ipswich on Thursday.

Comment: Gallant in defeat last time when holding on for third at Rosehill on a Saturday. Just had to work too hard in front on that occasion but if he gets any sort of mid-race breather here will be hard to beat.
Comment: Lightly-raced filly resuming over an unsuitable trip. Looking for her to be running on late with a view to racing over longer distances later in the preparation.
Comment: Stuck on well for third here last start, continuing an affinity with the track (3:1-1-1). Drawn awkwardly but can win if there is sufficient speed on up front.
Comment: Well-bred filly being a half to Proven’s recently retired Group 1 placegetter GOTTA KISS. Still learning her trade but has above average ability.
Comment: Excellent win at Kembla last start when leading throughout. Sure to improve off that effort but will need to if she runs in what is shaping as a hot 2YO race.
Comment: Sailed through the heavy conditions to win the McKell Cup last outing. Was coming back 400m in trip that day so should appreciate getting back out to a mile and a half on a spacious track. A wet track obviously enhances his claims too.
Comment: Put in an uncharacteristically poor run fresh when down the course in the Group 2 Moreton Cup at Eagle Farm. Certainly worthy of another chance racing over the same track and distance as his Sunshine Coast Cup win last year.
Comment: Freshened since ridden poorly from a wide gate and dropped out over 1400m at Kembla. Three runs prior were sound but may need this run to bring fitness levels up.
