The final Saturday of the season will see a seven pronged attack from the Proven Stable as the team attempts to maintain a July bonanza.
The Queensland arm, prepared by Matt Hoysted, holds the primary interest with a trio of runners at Eagle Farm headed by the promising LARADO. The lightly raced rising 5yo will aim to keep his 50% win strike rate intact when contesting the 1000m BM70 though a wide barrier presents a significant hurdle.
Seasoned performers OCEAN ZAR and SHOT OF WHISKEY, both 5 time winners, add to Proven’s presence at the meeting whilst last start victor SEISMIC BOOM journeys down to the Gold Coast.
Meantime, the NSW representatives all line up at Kembla Grange on Saturday with the Joe Pride-prepared mare INDEFENSIBLE (pictured) joining Kerry Parker’s pair HINZEL and debutante PRESSURE POINT.
The 2025/26 season won’t actually conclude until Friday July 31 so still a handful of opportunities after the weekend to build on our current 46 win tally.

SIRE ON FIRE – OLE KIRK
Even though his oldest progeny are only 3yo’s, his score of 5 winners in a week is a powerful finish to just his second year of racing stock, especially as it included KO PHANGAN, the winner of the time honoured Byerley Handicap at Flemington, an 1800m automatic Derby entrance race for juveniles.
BLACK BOOKER – GONDORFF
Though heading to the paddock, is worth documenting after his game third at Newcastle Tuesday in a 1400m Maiden. The son of ACE HIGH looks destined to compete in better races over longer distances next time in.

Comment: Pretty effective sprinter in his short career thus far. Unusually is actually coming back in trip second up here and also has to contend with a wide gate.

Comment: Failed to make an impression last start. A specialist over this course and trip so despite this being only her second run from a let-up, should run well from a handy alley.

Comment: Worst run of his 5 start prep when down the course at the Sunshine Coast last start. Goes up slightly in grade, however plunges in weight to just 52kg after the claim so a decent chance at odds.

Comment: Chasing a final QTIS bonus in what will be a keenly contested event for obvious reasons. Returned to form when successful in a weaker race at the Sunshine Coast last start and looks a chance here despite being at the back end of her preparation.

Comment: Good run when placed at Newcastle last start when 5 weeks between runs. Looks suited here on his home track, stretching to 1300m with blinkers applied.

Comment: Unreliable mare though very capable on her day being a city winner so well placed in a race of this type. Should relish her first try at the long Kembla straight being a backmarker.
