Proven Thoroughbreds can continue a strong start to the year with a host of winning chances over the next seven days.
A debut victory for the Kerry Parker-trained COPPER MOON at Kembla on Tuesday ensured Proven finished the month of January with six winners and more than $330,000 in prizemoney.
Among our runners this week will be impressive last start winner THATFEELSBETTER (pictured), the well-performed STELLAR MAGIC, and debutante POLARISING.
On the sales front, Proven has been busy in New Zealand at the Karaka Yearling Sale, purchases a quartet of lots from the Book 1 catalogue. More details on these acquisitions can be found on our AVAILABLE HORSES page.

BLACK BOOKER
BETTER YET is a horse to watch when she resumes next week. Based on her recent trials, the improvement she has made from her first racing preparation to this one has been significant. In her latest trial, she was a comfortable 2.5 length winner. She was unplaced in two runs during the winter but suspect she will be figuring much closer to the finish this time around.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Doomben Wednesday Feb 1
BM75 Handicap 1050m:
STELLAR MAGIC
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson
Comment: Classy mare lining up in a suitable midweek contest. Has previously been competitive in stakes company and won a trial last week. Goes well fresh, deserved favourite.
Sunshine Coast Friday Feb 3
BM58 Handicap 1600m:

GAP YEAR
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Looked a good thing beaten at the Sunshine Coast first-up and then was caught back on the inside at Doomben when finishing fifth. Racing well and just needs some luck to fall her way to be back in the winners’ stall.
QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap 1000m:

POLARISING
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: First starter coming off a dominant 5.5 length barrier trial win. Given plenty of time and looks ready to produce on debut.
Eagle Farm Saturday Feb 4
Class 3 Handicap 1000m:

THATFEELSBETTER
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Resumed with a strong win at the Sunshine Coast a month ago, indicating he has come back a more mature horse this time in. Three Eagle Farm runs to date all sound efforts, including a narrow second in May of last year.
QTIS 3YO BM72 Handicap 1400m:

HANG FIVE
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Was doing his best work late when resuming over 1200m at Doomben. Will appreciate switching to Eagle Farm and getting out to the 1400m. Indeed, the last time he raced over that track and distance he was a luckless second to subsequent stakes winner TYRESA.
Sunshine Coast Sunday Feb 5
Class 3 Handicap 1200m:

MERSEYSIDE
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Won well first-up over 1200m at Ipswich before an honest second over the same track and distance. Was set a mathematically impossible task last time as the leader dashed home in 33.15 seconds so hoping there is a more genuine tempo on here.
