The emerging THINK ABOUT IT will be aiming for four wins from five career starts when he rises to Saturday metropolitan company for the first time this weekend.
The Joe Pride-trained gelding has accepted for the BM78 Handicap at Rosehill, scheduled for 5.55pm on Saturday. After an emphatic return to racing at Warwick Farm on January 11, THINK ABOUT IT is a commanding $2.50 favourite but has drawn a touch awkwardly in barrier eight of 13.
The son of SO YOU THINK is one of three runners for Proven Thoroughbreds this week, the other two being GOSSIP COLUMN (O’Dea/Hoysted) at Thursday’s Beaudesert meeting and first starter COPPER MOON (Kerry Parker) at Kembla’s Saturday fixture.
Following a hectic Magic Millions, the sales circuit moves to New Zealand this Sunday for the Karaka Book 1 and Book 2 Sales. Proven is expecting to be active at the sale with Jamie Walter currently in NZ inspecting the catalogue. Our past purchases from Karaka include STOCKMAN, TAMARACK, ADORABEEL, GAMBLESTOWN & LAST WISH.
Hot on the heels of Karaka will be the Inglis Classic Sale, starting on February 12.

BLACK BOOKER
CREWMAN raised a few eyebrows on debut last Saturday at Kembla. The staying-bred 3YO was one of the outsiders in the 1200m maiden but reeled off the quickest last 600m of the race to finish a clear third. With the way the race was run (at a dawdling pace), the Joe Pride-trained galloper could hardly have run much better from where he was positioned during the middle stages of the race. He’s gone out for a spell now but the initial signs are promising for a horse that is expected to get up to at least 2000m in the long term.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Beaudesert Thursday Jan 26
Maiden Handicap 1200m:
GOSSIP COLUMN
Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Emily Lang (a2)
Comment: Has been scratched from her last couple of assignments due to wide barriers and is faced with another awkward draw here but needs to run given the time that has elapsed since her disappointing effort at the Sunshine Coast on Boxing Day. Previous form would suggest she’s much better than that and can bounce back in a weak regional maiden.
Rosehill Saturday Jan 28
BM78 Handicap 1350m:
THINK ABOUT IT
Joe Pride/Sam Clipperton
Comment: Promising horse coming off a slashing return win at Warwick Farm earlier this month. Goes up in grade again but looked to have more to offer last time and strips fitter. Just needs some luck from a slightly awkward barrier.
Kembla Tuesday Jan 31
Class 1 Handicap 1000m:
COPPER MOON
Kerry Parker/Jeff Penza
Comment: On debut. Very raw and unsure of himself in recent trials but clearly has ability having finished a close second in a Warwick Farm heat in good time. On his home track but faces more experienced rivals.
