Consistent mare INVINCIANO could back up in one of three races at Rosehill this Saturday as she prepares for next month’s Group 3 Aspiration Quality (1600m).

Trainer Joe Pride has nominated the daughter of I AM INVINCIBLE for the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m), James Ruse BM100 Handicap (1400m) and BM78 Handicap (1400m). Which of those races she actually contests will depend on a variety of factors, including the barrier draw and predicted tempo.

The Aspiration Quality at Randwick on March 5 is a race Proven Thoroughbreds and the Pride stable have combined to win previously with ADORABEEL in 2015.

Meanwhile in Brisbane, HANG FIVE makes his debut in the 2YO Maiden Plate (1110m) at Doomben on Wednesday. The son of ASTERN will likely be firm in the market, having recently won a trial by 1.8 lengths for the high-flying Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted camp.

Wednesday will also see MACCOMO have his first start for Kerry Parker when he lines up over 1550m at Randwick’s Kensington track. The 5YO gelding has swapped Pride’s Warwick Farm stables for Kembla Grange with the aim of targeting the lucrative Midway races next preparation.

BLACKBOOKER

MY SHAMANA did a good job to hold down third after missing the start at the Gold Coast last Saturday. It’s hard to be too critical of her jump as the starter had the field standing in the gates for an eternity while attendants attempted to load another runner. Having missed the kick, she booted forward to a prominent position and spent a bit of petrol to get there. Considering she was 1200m to 1400m second-up, she was entitled to finish further back than she did. Heads back to the Gold Coast on Saturday week and will be hard to beat with better luck.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Doomben Wednesday February 16

2YO C&G Maiden Plate 1110m:

HANG FIVE

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson

Comment: Won his latest trial by a comfortable margin and has always shown above average ability. Drawn the outside in a small field so will need a good ride from Ben Thompson but clearly looks the best of the unraced starters.

Randwick-Kensington Wednesday February 16

BM72 Handicap 1550m:

MACCOMO

Kerry Parker/Tyler Schiller (a2)

Comment: First start for new stable. At the back end of his preparation but strikes attractive race with only a handful of rivals. Should be able to bowl along in front and give the others something to chase.

Sunshine Coast Friday February 18

CG&E Class 2 Handicap 1000m:

HE KNOWS

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Jaden Lloyd

Comment: Talented horse but likely to find the 1000m a bit sharp first-up, just as he did last preparation. Needs the speed on up front to produce his best.

Rosehill Saturday February 19

Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes 1300m/James Ruse Handicap 1400m/BM78 Handicap 1400m

INVINCIANO

Joe Pride/Regan Bayliss

Comment: The rain crushed her chances of winning at Randwick last Saturday but onto a drier Rosehill surface will be in her favour. Has backed up successfully in the past so must be considered a chance, despite her main target being on March 5.

Sunshine Coast Saturday February 19

QTIS 3YO Handicap 1600m:

CANADIAN DANCER

Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted/Ben Thompson

Comment: Made light work of her rivals at Ipswich first-up over 1350m. Was unlucky finishing second in only two previous starts. Always given the impression she will eat up a mile.
