A relatively quiet week of runners for Proven Thoroughbreds as the curtain comes down on another Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Proven came away from the 2025 auction with a total of seven yearlings of which three will be trained by Joe Pride, two by Kerry Parker and two by Matt Hoysted.

More details on each of our acquisitions will be posted on the website over the coming days, with share prices expected to be finalised by Monday.

Our racetrack representatives this week will exclusively be in Queensland, highlighted by last start winner ROCK THE SUNRISE (pictured), who contests the 1400m 3YO Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Information on all of Proven’s 2025 yearlings can be viewed on our AVAILABLE HORSES page.

SIRE ON FIRE – SHOCKING

It was certainly a red-letter day for this NZ stallion on Saturday. The Melbourne Cup winner bagged a Group 1 double at Te Rapa with HERE TO SHOCK over 1400m and EL VENCEDOR over 2000m.

BLACK BOOKER – SHOT OF WHISKEY

Had absolutely no luck first-up at Ipswich. Got shuffled back from the start then had a gap close on him in the home straight. Has previously won second-up and will be hard to beat around the 1200m distance next time out.

BET WITH NIC

Our times analyst Nic Ashman will be publishing his popular best bet for Saturday’s racing on Thursday afternoon.

Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners

Ipswich Wednesday February 12

Class 5 Handicap 1200m

HANG FIVE

Matt Hoysted/Boris Thornton

Comment: Resuming. Had a fruitful last preparation with three wins and a placing. Generally improves with racing (yet to win first-up in five previous attempts) and has drawn wide around the tight Ipswich circuit. Place looks best.

Sunshine Coast Friday February 14

BM62 Handicap 1200m

CARTWHEELS

Matt Hoysted/Nikita Beriman

Comment: First-up since November. Despite being winless in three fresh runs, she has placed in all three and this looks an attractive race to kick her off in. Will likely have to go back from the wide draw but if the speed is genuine she will be finishing hard.

Eagle Farm Saturday February 15

3YO Handicap 1400m

ROCK THE SUNRISE

Matt Hoysted/Vlad Duric

Comment: Last start winner over this trip at Grafton. Up in class now and drawn awkwardly so will need to have improved again to be figuring in the finish. May also be looking for a mile.

Gold Coast Saturday February 15

Class 2 Plate 1400m

MOONFLEET

Matt Hoysted/TBA

Comment: Rallied late to grab third first-up at the Sunshine Coast over 1200m. Expecting her to travel better up to 1400m and with natural improvement, should be very competitive despite still being eligible for Class 1 company.
