A lightly raced 4yo with upside is an intoxicating attraction so LARADO will capture plenty of interest when he lines up on Saturday at Eagle Farm.
The winner of 3 of his 4 outings, the gelding takes on BM78 company for the first time and like every progressive horse will need to keep improving if he’s going to maintain that winning strike rate.
Trainer Matt Hoysted is deliberately limiting the son of TORONADO to short course racing and he appears to be relishing the spicy tempo of 1000m. Being out of a NOT A SINGLE DOUBT mare, LARADO bears a strong physical resemblance to his compact maternal sire though Matt has not ruled out longer races as the horse matures.
DECLAN is another runner of interest this week. The Joe Pride-trained 3yo ran a gutsy third on debut at Kembla last month and heads to Gosford on Wednesday in search of his maiden win, against just the three opposition.
Meantime the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale concluded on Tuesday with seven new members for the Proven team. More information can be viewed on our AVAILABLE HORSES page.

SIRE ON FIRE – ALMANZOR
The month of February has seen further of endorsement of this guy’s remarkable versatility albeit primarily in NZ. Last Saturday he sired a 1400m Group 1 winner, a week after producing the victor at the end of a gruelling 3200m in the G3 Wellington Cup. The son of WOOTTON BASSET was also responsible for winners in France and Victoria through the week and our very own ALDEZOR ran in the money at Kembla on Saturday.
BLACK BOOKER – EMPHATIQUE
Has been on the wrong side of Lady Luck at 2 of her only 3 starts so the law of averages suggests her turn can’t be far away. The 3yo daughter of PIERATA saw more rump steak than a butcher’s convention when 9th last Wednesday at Eagle Farm.
Upcoming Proven Thoroughbreds runners
Gosford Wednesday February 11
3YO Maiden Handicap 1100m
DECLAN
Joe Pride/Jay Ford
Comment: Showed real commitment when knocked around in the straight before finishing 3rd on debut at Kembla. Fortuitously strikes only a trio of rivals here, extends to 1100m and looks a top chance…as much as that can be stated about any maiden!
Canterbury Friday February 13
BM64 Handicap 1550m

ELLE HUDSON
Joe Pride/Chad Schofield
Comment: Fitted by a couple of 1400m runs and whilst Canterbury is far from an ideal circuit for him, he does drop in grade and finds the inside draw. Would be favoured by some forecast rain but will relish longer trips later in the prep.
Sunshine Coast Friday February 13
Class 3 Handicap 1800m

MELTDOWN
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Strikes a substandard 1800m contest though it does represent a sharp rise in trip. Revealed something of his considerable talent when scoring at the same track over 1400m recently so looks a big hope if he can run the trip.
Eagle Farm Saturday February 14
BM78 Handicap 1000m

LARADO
Matt Hoysted/Daniel Moor
Comment: Rises in class from his emphatic performance over the same track and distance a fortnight ago. Looks a horse of promise so very well placed here with 56.5kg around his home circuit where he scored last start.
Toowoomba Saturday February 14
QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate 1050m

HEAD OF THE RIVER
Matt Hoysted/TBA
Comment: Didn’t back up and/or struggled with the rise in trip when disappointingly down the course at the Gold Coast 3 weeks ago. Reverts to a short course and weaker company (hopefully!) so look for improvement.
