A busy week for Proven Thoroughbreds with a trio of stakes runners and yearling inspections in the Hunter Valley.
The latest COVID-19 border restrictions has forced us to isolate in country NSW but we are making the most of our time out of Sydney, visiting all the major studs to inspect their Magic Millions yearling drafts before the Gold Coast sale starts on January 12.
Three of our main Magic Millions carnival aspirants – GOTTA KISS (pictured), SCALLOPINI and RECKLESS CHOICE – will have their final lead-up races at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
While at Randwick’s Kensington meeting on the same day, the highly promising PRIVATE EYE will be aiming for four consecutive wins and a potential start in the Magic Millions Guineas.

BLACKBOOKER
HIGH HANDED looks ready to break his maiden after a sound third placing over 1350m at Doomben second-up. On debut he finished fourth behind a subsequent Saturday winner so his form to date would suggest a win is not far away. Ideally would like to see him over 1400m next start.
Comment: Not much went right first-up at the Gold Coast. She was slow to begin and never saw daylight in the straight. Better for the experience and can win with the right run.
Comment: Promising horse shooting for four wins from five starts. Has won on heavy and looks to get a soft run from the inside gate. Hard to beat again.
Comment: Determined at Nowra last start and deserves his shot at a Highway. Drawn the outside but generally races better with a bit of galloping room. Wouldn’t want the track to be worse than a heavy 8.
