Always exciting to take the covers off a potentially promising first-starter and that’s what trainer Joe Pride intends to do this week.
NOT ON MAY WATCH (pictured), an unraced 3yo gelding by ALL TOO HARD, has been entered for two races this week following a pair of impressive barrier trials on his home track of Warwick Farm.
Barriers, weather and opposition will form a big part of whether NOT ON MY WATCH kicks off his career at Gosford on Friday or Wyong’s Sunday fixture.
The same scenario applies for stablemate ALABAMA SHOWDOWN, who resumes following third and fourth placings at Kembla Grange earlier this year.
Other runners of note this week include the Kerry Parker-trained BROADWAY STREET, who was narrowly defeated at Newcastle last start, and TOWN CRIER at Eagle Farm Saturday for Matt Hoysted.

SIRE ON FIRE – JUSTIFY
Following a relatively quiet period, this sire has made a fast start to the new season with 14 winners from 39 runners which puts him well on top in terms of strike rates. His highlight result this month being the victory of JUST PARTY in last Friday’s Goulburn Cup.
BLACK BOOKER – IN CIRCLES
Get the feeling this mare struck a very hot maiden at Newcastle last Tuesday. She ultimately finished where the market expected her to in third but significantly, she raced like a horse crying out for further than the 1250m. Expect her to find a stack of improvement over a bit more ground next time.
