This Saturday marks the return of our high class galloper PRIVATE EYE.
The Joe Pride-trained 4YO lines up in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) at Randwick as he embarks on a spring campaign geared towards the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and $7.5 million Golden Eagle.
Jockey Brenton Avdulla who partnered the gelding in his Queensland Guineas victory, retains the ride on Saturday.
Another stakes runner for Proven Thoroughbreds this week is PRIVATE EYE’s stablemate INVINCIANO, one of 15 starters in the Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) at Hawkesbury. The ever consistent mare is set to get ideal track conditions as she chases her first slice of black type.
Elsewhere, the Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted-trained OCEAN TREATY returns from an injury enforced break at Doomben on Wednesday after stringing four wins together during the back of last year.

SECRET TALES was always going to find 1000m first-up too short and that proved the case as she didn’t get mobile until the race was all over. Despite finishing fifth of six, she was beaten less than three lengths and was as strong anything through the line. Looking forward to seeing her once she gets up to 1300m-1400m.
Comment: First-up after 10 months off the scene. Went through her grades stylishly last preparation, winning four on the trot. Likely to need the hit-out here and will be one to watch once she gets up to a mile and beyond.
Comment: Solid in two trials since fourth as favourite on a heavy (10) surface at Goulburn. Gets firmer footing here and appears to have come back a stronger horse.
Comment: Mare racing in top form but will need to be at her best to figure here. The field came up stronger than expected however she does have a fitness edge over most of her rivals.
Comment: Raced handy over 1300m at Eagle Farm last start and faded to finish just over six lengths from the winner. Looks better suited coming back in distance at a track where she broke her maiden impressively earlier this year.
Comment: Installed favourite in early markets but may not be as sharp as some others over this distance. He’s got bigger targets in store but a win certainly wouldn’t surprise given his trials this time in.
Comment: Impressive trial winner last week despite doing a few things wrong in the run. Looks to have above average ability and suspect she will be well found in markets here.
