SECRET TALES, who made headlines for breaking her maiden by 18 lengths earlier this year, is set to make her anticipated return to racing this Saturday at Eagle Farm.

The Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted trained filly turned heads at the Gold Coast on March 27 when she romped home by 18 lengths – a record winning margin for the track. She then followed up with another victory, albeit by a significantly less margin, at Eagle Farm a week later.

SECRET TALES returns to Eagle Farm this Saturday in the QTIS 3YO Handicap over 1000m but will be better suited once she gets out to 1400m.

One runner with strong winning claims this week is stablemate RED RUBI. The 3YO filly was dominant first-up at the Sunshine Coast on July 25 and returns to the scene of the crime on Sunday in search of her third win from seven career starts.

BLACKBOOKER

CANADIAN DANCER looked impressive in a recent barrier trial. Despite racing keen and wide through the early stages, she went into another gear over the final furlong to win by a comfortable margin. A 3YO daughter of VANCOUVER, this filly is set to make her race debut next week and is well worth following.

Doomben Wednesday August 11

Class 1 Handicap 1200m:

HE KNOWS

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Baylee Nothdurft

Comment: Found the 1000m a bit sharp first-up around the Sunshine Coast. Started in the market there and can only improve going up to 1200m, however may want some sting out of the ground.

Ipswich Friday August 13

BM65 Handicap 800m:

TRIP THE LIGHT

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Baylee Nothdurft

Comment: Shooting for a hat-trick. Speedy customer in fine form and is a winner over this track and distance. Looks well placed again.

Eagle Farm Saturday August 14

QTIS 3YO Fillies Handicap 1000m:

SECRET TALES

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Stephanie Thornton

Comment: First-up from a spell and looks to have come back in great order. However will likely find others too sharp for her over this distance. Last preparation revealed she comes into her own around 1400m.

Goulburn Saturday August 14

Maiden Handicap 1200m:

TORINDA

Joe Pride/TBA

Comment: Lightly-raced 5YO maiden but has been solid in two trials back this preparation. Ran well without winning in three starts last campaign and looks suited over 1200m first-up.

Maiden Plate 1400m/Maiden Handicap 1600m:

CAPTURED IN TIME

Kerry Parker/TBA

Comment: Put in a much improved run when third over 1425m earlier this month. Clearly appreciates being ridden quietly and will hopefully get a genuine tempo here.

Maiden Handicap 1600m:

BHUTAN

Kerry Parker/TBA

Comment: Couldn’t pick up in the heavy (10) conditions last start. Made some late ground the start prior over 1400m but needs to improve.

Moruya Sunday August 15

Sunshine Coast Sunday August 15

F&M Class 2 Handicap 1000m:

RED RUBI

Steve O’Dea & Matt Hoysted/Stephanie Thornton

Comment: Was a drifting favourite first-up here last month but proved a class above, racing away to a 2.8 length win. Will be hard to beat again.
