Two of our Queensland fillies will chase their first slice of black type in Saturday’s Listed Princess Stakes (1600m) – the same race won by Proven Thoroughbreds’ CANDIKA last year!

The Steve O’Dea-trained duet SETOKA and EVERYDAY LADY (pictured), both raced by all-women syndicates, have a way to go before reaching the heights of their former stablemate but are afforded an excellent opportunity in stakes company at the Sunshine Coast Saturday.

SETOKA has won two of her last three while EVERYDAY LADY has been a model of consistency in her eight career starts, finishing in the first four on each occasion.

Two-year-old colt SESAR, a half-brother to $200,000 earner DOUBT DEFYING, will also represent the O’Dea stable at Caloundra and starts in the QTIS 2YO C&G Handicap (1200m).

Proven Thoroughbreds’ other Saturday runner will be the John Thompson-trained CHOUXTORIAL, backing up for the third consecutive week in the 1400m Maiden at Newcastle.

Sunday at Wagga sees John Bateman pair COUNTERFIRE and BELLA SCENICA line up in the 1800m Class 1 & Maiden Handicap while CHOUXTORIAL’s stablemate BLANCO CARA could also head south for the Heat of the Wagga Staying Series (1800m) pending the weather. The Hawkesbury Stayers Prelude (2000m) Tuesday is BLANCO CARA’s alternative race.

On Monday at Grafton the O’Dea-trained BEAU DANCER contests 1106m C&G Maiden.

Our lone trialist in the week ahead will be HI ZERO at Deagon on Tuesday.
